Who we are
Welcome to the Canadian Filipino Association of the Yukon (CFAY)!
The Canadian Filipino Association of the Yukon (CFAY) is a vibrant and active organization dedicated to supporting and celebrating the Filipino community within the Yukon Territory. Based in Whitehorse, CFAY plays a central role in organizing and participating in key cultural and community events, including Canada Day and Philippine Independence Day celebrations. Our mission is to foster a strong sense of community among Filipinos in the Yukon while promoting understanding and collaboration with our fellow Canadians.
Under the leadership of our President, Dominic Pelayo, CFAY is committed to preserving and sharing the richness of Filipino culture through a variety of activities. We coordinate essential services such as Consular Outreach, organize fundraising initiatives for important causes like the Youth’s Pinoy on Parliament, and partner with the Yukon Arts Centre to host a Yukon-wide singing contest.
One of our recent highlights was the Pinoy FiestAcular 2024, where we proudly introduced the tradition of Santacruzan to the Yukon. This celebration, deeply rooted in Filipino heritage, brought our community together to honor the Virgin Mary and raised over $20,000 for Our Lady of Victory Church in Porter Creek.
At CFAY, our objectives are clear:
To assist Filipinos in Canada,
To promote understanding between Filipinos and Canadians,
To provide education and training opportunities to our members,
To organize recreational and cultural activities, and
To raise funds for both the administration of our association and various charitable purposes.
We invite you to explore our website, learn more about our activities, and join us in celebrating the dynamic and diverse culture of the Filipino community in the Yukon.
